Metallon Corporation Limited (“Metallon”) is a leading gold producer, developer and explorer in southern Africa. Metallon is focused on low cost, high grade mining operations and increasing gold production to 500,000oz pa by 2019. Metallon has four gold mining operations, is dewatering Redwing Mine and exploring additional licences in Zimbabwe.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill in vacancies that have arisen within Metallon Gold Mines.

MINE MANAGER

This position will be mine based at one of the group’s mines within Zimbabwe, and it entails in brief;

  • Ensuring that the Mine has adequate resources at the right grade for the short, medium and long term.
  • Budget production tonnage, grades, and unit costs are met monthly.
  • Ensure that the mine has the right staffing levels with the requisite competencies to achieve set targets and ensure that all human capital management programs and systems (which include performance management: succession planning, training and development, and public relations) are religiously adhered to.
  • Planned maintenance programmes are strictly adhered to and that engineering standards are strictly enforced.
  • Enforcing security and risk control systems in place to prevent any losses to company property.
  • Ensuring that the mine operates in line with SHEQ management systems based on IS014001, OHSAS18001 and IS09001.
  • Providing strong mentoring and motivation of subordinates. Must be result driven.
  • Having good Cash Flow Planning and Management Skills.
  • Excellent Industrial Relations management is a prerequisite.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • A BSc Mining Engineering Degree and/or a Mine Managers Diploma. An MBA Degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years relevant experience, five of which must be at Underground Manager level.
  • Knowledge of mine design and planning.
  • Knowledge of narrow reef mining and long hole drilling.
  • Knowledge of SHE systems/ Conversant with ISO 14001 and OSHAS systems.
  • Good Inter-personal and man-management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
