The Office for Promoting Private Power Investment (OPPPI) is a unit in the Ministry of Energy whose role is to promote private sector investment in the development of power projects in Zambia.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Investment Officer and Project Engineer in the Office for Promoting Private Power Investment at headquarters.

Project Engineer (x1)

Main Accountabilities

  •  Directing pre-feasibility/feasibility studies in the power sector;
  • Ensuring that generation and transmission projects are designed and developed according to set standards;
  •  Work with relevant Government entities in fostering private sector participation in the electricity sector;
  • Carry out any other assigned duties from time to time;

Qualifications:-

Applicants must have the following requisites qualifications:-

  •  A full grade 12 / form 5 school certificate with a minimum of five O level credits including English and Mathematics;
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering;
  •  Registered with the Engineering Institute of Zambia;
  •  Minimum of five (05) years’ work experience. Experience in power generation will be an added advantage;
  • Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision;
  • Must be willing to work long hours both at the office and away from home.

Conditions of Service:-

Remuneration for the position will be commensurate with and qualification and experience
