Mopani Copper Mines PLC, a joint venture company comprising major shareholders Glencore, First Quantum Minerals Ltd and ZCCM Investment Holdings, owns operations in Mufulira and Nkana on the Copperbelt in Zambia. Mopani Copper Mine Plc has implemented a competency-based engineering apprenticeship programme. Special emphasis is given to the training and development of apprentices to artisan level that will be compatible with international artisans’ standards in the following trades:

Electrical, Auto-Electrical, Heavy Equipment Repair, Mechanical Fitting, Metal Fabrication and Rigging

The training is conducted at the Mopani Central Training Centre (MCTC) situated at Mufulira Mine Site. The apprenticeship programme will be for a period of 2.5 — 3 years.

Apprentices who successfully complete the Apprenticeship programme will be certified as Crafts tradesmen by TEVETA. Mopani Copper Mine Plc is offering to sponsor a number of apprenticeships within the above-mentioned trades. The programme comes at no cost to the successful candidates as the Company will cover the full costs of training, board, and lodging.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Credits or better in 5 subjects at ‘O’ level which includes English, Mathematics, and Science plus any other 2 subjects.
  • Aged between 18 to 23 years old,
  • Medically fit and have the passion to have a high-quality Trade Certificate that could create great employment opportunities.
