MSF Supply is the international procurement agency of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). As such, its aim is to ensure the responsiveness of MSF’s work by supplying the equipment and consumables required by its missions.
This supply meets operational needs by fulfilling the quality criteria, pricing criteria and delivery terms (lead times, modes of transport and national delivery address) set out by the missions.

Job Vacancy – Purchaser

Location:  Harare

Type of contract :   Five month Fixed Term Contract with trial period of one month
Start Date : To commence work immediately
Immediate Supervisor: Supply Chain Officer

Objective of the Post

To assist the Supply Department in the support of all issues linked to purchasing goods for the whole mission. The main responsibility of the post is to purchase good quality items according to the MSF standard at the best available price.

Educational and professional background:

  • Minimum diploma level of a purchasing / supply course
  • Good knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Data and Outlook
  • Good skills in Negotiation/Bargaining
  • Good communication skills with fluency in English and Shona both written and spoken.
  • Must be very trustworthy, dependable and responsible
  • Be able to work in an International Humanitarian aid/Inter-cultural context
  • Must be mature with sober habits.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations – High flexibility

Requirements

Main Task:

  • Make sure that all MSF purchase procedures and guidelines are followed and are adhered to for the purchasing of all goods. To also ensure that the goods are the correct specification as per requisition order.
  • Carry out regular market analysis in order to enhance the Organisations’ knowledge of market conditions and to share this information with the Supply department.
  • To ensure the optimum price/quality ratio on the market and take the initiative to identify new suppliers when necessary; negotiate with then and submit contract proposals for consideration to the Supply Chain Officer.
  • Is responsible for the safe transition of goods from the suppliers to their relevant destination.
  • As a person representing MSF, the Purchaser is required to maintain integrity in his/her conduct and observe the Code of Conduct as outlined in the MSF Internal Regulations.
