Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to, challenge and implement the long-term strategy for MTN Finance function and ensure alignment of all activities undertaken in the unit to the strategy;
  • Translate targets and strategies into operational plans, ensuring alignment of these to business strategy, driving the execution
  • thereof and taking corrective actions where necessary;
  • Consider the long-term implications of actions, controls and processes on the viability of the business from a broad perspective, including the impact on other areas of the business units;
  • Coordinate the MTN Zambia (MTNZ) forecast, budget and business plan processes, policies and procedures;
  • Provide guidance and lead on divisional submissions (assumptions and other inputs- financials and non-financials) into the
  • MTNZ forecast, budget and business plan processes;
  • Ensure smooth flow of information and facilitate effective data processing by the financial systems team to ensure efficiency in the forecast, budget and business plan processes;
  • Facilitate the implementation of effective budgetary controls in the organization;
  • Perform detailed analytical review and sensitivity analysis of the forecast, budget and business plan submissions to ensure correctness, completeness and accuracy of numbers;
  • Ensure an alignment and/or synchronisation of the MTN Group objectives to the MTNZ forecast, budget and business plan.
  • Review of the annual budget and forecast financial and non-financial ratios and report on variances to management (local and MTN Group) on as-need-be basis;
  • Prepare the monthly Management Pack highlighting key performance indicators, for Management and Group review;
  • Coordinate non-financial reporting to Group; ensuring accuracy and reasonableness of the data and should be loaded on Hyperion as per Group timelines.

Candidate Requirements

  • B.Sc./ BA Accounting/Finance
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
  • At least 5 years practical working experience in Business planning, of which 2 years should be at management level in a multinational organization.
  • Good knowledge of IAS, IFRS & GAAP
  • Experience in Telecommunications industry will be an added advantage
  • Experience in external audit will be an added advantage
  • Member of ZICA/ACCA/CIMA
