Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) is the provider of water and sewerage services in Chingola, Mufulira and Chililabombwe. The Company is undertaking a six year infrastructure development project and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions which are in the Project Implementation Unit (PIU):

SENIOR ENGINEER INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Planning the job holder shall be responsible for performing Civil/Water Engineering activities involving planning, design and design reviews of civil works for the utility’s water and sanitation infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preliminary in-house designs of all civil works from specifications, drawings and basic design data to engineering drawings to ensure that they are in line with the overall project design.
• Carrying out preliminary reviews of the Civil/Water Engineering designs to and from Consultants and Mulonga Water & Sewerage Company (MWSC) starting with specifications, sketches and basic design data to engineering drawings to ensure that they are in line with the overall project design.
• Preparing and/or carrying out preliminary reviews of technical (civil) specifications for tender documents for the supply of goods, works and services for approval:
• Participating in tender evaluation and awarding of contracts for the Projects as assigned
• Carrying out preliminary scrutiny of payment certificates from Contractors, Suppliers and consultants in readiness for payments
• Working closely with the Community Mobilization and Social Specialist on community water and sanitation activities of the Project.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

• Grade I2
• University Degree in Civil/ Water Engineering or closely related field.
• Registered Engineer with the Engineering Registration Board and Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
• 5 years relevant experience in design, water utility operations, project implementation supervision preferably in water and sanitation projects

Required Competencies and personal attributes

• Able to use project management software and engineering design software (Auto CAD. hydraulic modelling software, prawn…)
• Should have traceable design and project planning
• A team player with the ability to supervise a skilled and diverse team
