The National Food and Nutrition Commission is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament CAP 308 Chapter 41 of 1967, with the mandate of providing promotional, advisory and regulatory support to the government on matters of food and nutrition. In line with its mandate, NFNC with support from partners, is implementing Phase Two (2) of the Multisectoral Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN)/1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program in various districts across Zambia.

The Institution now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up positions under this program, at National level:

COMMUNICATION AND ADVOCACY SPECIALIST

JOB PURPOSE

To support NFNC develop and implement Communication and Advocacy strategies, under the 1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program (MCDP).

KEY RESULT AREAS/PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY (MAIN DUTIES)

SBCC strategies

Develop and Facilitate implementation of the nutrition Communication and Advocacy/SBCC strategies of the MCDP

Harmonization of SBCC messages

Ensures nutrition SBCC messages are harmonized for different audiences at all levels

Coordination

Ensure Communication and Advocacy activities among stakeholders are well-coordinated, including convening National Communication and Advocacy Technical Workin Group

Technical support/backstopping

Provide technical guidance to sub-national Conwunieation and Advocacy Technical Working Groups

Education/Promotion materials

Assist in the identification and development of various nutrition education,’promotion materials

Reports

Generate periodic and progress reports for communication and advocacy activities

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Masters’ Degree in Communications, Health Promotion or any related field of study is required
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a reputable organization
  • Experience in the nutrition sector will be an added advantage
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, and Outlook

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Able to write analytical and technical reports
  • Able to manage Institution website
  • Able to work with people of a different culture
