Network Engineer/ Administrator Job in Zambia

Zambia Research and Education Network (ZAMREN) is a not for profit association for Research and Education institutions. The objective of ZAMREN is to secure cost effective broadband connectivity to all its member institutions, to access & share their education & research resources via this dedicated infrastructure of ZAMREN, to
provide advanced ICT services to its member institutions in a Closed User Group (CUG) environment and to interconnect regionally & globally with other National Research and Education Networks (NRENs).

ZAMREN has the following vacancy for suitably qualified, experienced and skilled personnel.

NETWORK ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR

Reports to: Chief Technical Officer (CTO)

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Planning, Installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades of network support equipment (both data and voice), computer and peripherals to ensure high availability & performance of equipment at all locations of ZAMREN.

REQUIRED COMPETENCES:

a) Hands-on experience in installation, configuration and securing network devices such as routers, switches, radios and firewalls.
b) Practical knowledge of key Internet protocols and standards.
c) Should have reasonable experience working with Optic fibre connections and accessories.
d) Valid Driver’s Licence

QUALIFICATIONS:

a) Education: BEng/BSc in Computer Science, Telecoms or other closely related fields.
b) Professional Qualification: Possession of CISCO certifications (CCNA, CCNP) or other recognized computer networking professional qualifications.

EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) years practical experience in a demanding Networking Environment in a large corporation. ISP or Telco organization.
