Job Description

Tertiary qualification in Biomedical Sciences, or related field Diploma in Pharmacy
Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia, ART and Essential Medicines Logistics Management course
Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS
Proficiency in English 1year experience in HIV/AIDS programme (Preferable)
1 year public sector experience preferably within HIV field (Preferable) Responsibilities Dispensing • Issuing medicines to patients, furnishing information and advice to patients with regard to the use of medicines.
• Counseling patients on the proper use of drugs they are taking.
• Determining patient compliance with the therapy and follow up to ensure that patient’s medicine related needs are being met
• Evaluating patient’s medicine related needs by determining the indications, safety and effectiveness of therapy.
• Document medication errors and interventions made during dispensing.
• Ongoing adherence monitoring of patients.
• Involvement in Pharmacovigilance activities
• Clinical Pharmacy to ensure efficacy, safety and continued access to ARVs for inpatients.
• Ensure continuous supply of medication for patients accessing care from pharmacy and areas that we support
• Facilitate multidisciplinary team approach to patient care Supply Chain Management
• Ordering of stock
• Receive stock according to Standard Operating Procedures
• Pack and dispense stock according to FIFO\FEFO rule
• Cold chain maintenance
• Ensure that returned stock\ expired stock is handled according to Good Pharmacy Practice and SOPs
• Ensure adequate stock security
• Design and implement effective and efficient stock control measures and protocols
Ongoing monitoring of the stock master database of the dispensing software to ensure correct database Administration and Reports
• Ensure accurate record keeping
• Compile monthly statistics and reports and forward to relevant persons
• Overall support to Facility Pharmacy staff
• Continued evaluation and monitoring of Pharmacy systems. i.e. waiting times, prescription errors etc. Other Duties
• Perform ongoing assessments for measuring impact of interventions and outcomes thereof for continuous self-improvement
• Ensures compliance with good pharmacy practices and good dispensing practices
• Implement strategies to effectively manage stock to ensure availability, quality and safety of pharmaceutical commodities in the health facilities.
• Ensures that all purchase orders, invoices, discrepancy reports and goods received for the MOP UP operation are kept in a file as per SOPs
• Assist facilities with stock rotation and re-distribution to avoid out of stock, over-stock and expiry of medicines.
• Ensures medicine safety systems (pharmacovigilance) is implemented at facility level.
• Supports implementation of alternative access to chronic medicines (e.g. Adherence clubs, CCMDD).
• Identify, and report for tracing, all clients who failed to pick up ART Refills within specified time frames
• Ensures that facilities are reporting medicine availability as required

Job Description

Program Review Coordinator
Duration: 2 Months (Max)
Location: Zambia

All applicants must have a valid passport and be able to travel and work immediately in remote locations in Zambia.

Purpose
To assess readiness status of countries to implement HIV Test and Start for people living with HIV (test and treat or treat all) in various countries supported by EQUIP. The aim is to assess the burden and help identify priorities for rapid scale up of test and treat.

Required Minimum Education & Experience

A Diploma/Degree in General Nursing or Degree in Social Science
Registration with the Nursing Council
NIMART Training
ART Initiation experience
Health care service delivery background
Prior experience working in HIV control
At least 3 years’ experience working in Primary Health Care and community-based health programming for HIV.
Minimum of two years’ experience working in a program management/coordination position in a Non-Governmental Organization.
Experience in monitoring and evaluation of HIV facility based and community-based health
Responsibilities:
Technical Assistant

Work in close coordination and collaboration with country teams to implement EQUIP program activities
Conduct patient file audits
Review program reporting tools e.g. PreART registers, treatment registers, health information systems
Conduct assessment interviews with policy makers and other implementing partners
Obtain corrections upon identification of data quality issues
Respond to reasonable and relevant requests and attend to any responsibilities as per the line managers request
Compile reports
Monitoring and Reporting:

Assist in compiling quarterly reports for EQUIP and RTC leadership
Assist in compiling projections and forecasts
Liaison and coordination with other EQUIP partners with particular reference to RTC’s cooperating partners and programmes and interventions.
Compile periodic and ad hoc narrative and data reports of programme performance
Brief and communicate programmatic performance to RTC management in consultation with the EQUIP Programme Manager
Respond to questions and queries related to programme performance
