The Bank is looking for suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position:

ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1)

JOB SUMMARY

To assist, facilitate and ensure timely acquisition of goods and services for the Bank.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiating for the best possible terms and placing contracts for the supply of goods and services to meet planned internal customer requirements.
  • Timely sourcing of goods, works, and services in line with the Public Procurement Act and Regulations
  • Evaluate received quotations and make commercial recommendations in accordance with the public procurement guidelines and regulations
  • Engage commodity suppliers/service providers and integrate them into the Banks’ continuous transformation efforts.
  • Expedite approved orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of procurement cost savings through industry best practices
  • Liaison with Inventory section and end users in managing inventory levels on a continuous basis.
  • Liaison with end-users on the needs for consumables that should be placed on Framework Purchase Agreements.
  • Evaluate contracted vendors’ performance
  • Preparation of weekly status reports
  • Raise Departmental purchase requisitions
  • Timely verification of Suppliers invoices and processing payment
  • Providing secretarial duties during tender opening
  • Assist in timely circulation of Procurement Committee Meeting packs
  • Assist in the preparation of Procurement Plans
  • Filling and Maintaining proper procurement records
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the Procurement Officer.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Fall Grade 12 School Certificate;
  • Degree in Purchasing and Supply or Graduate Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS);
  • Must be a Member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply (ZIPS) or CIPS;
  • Working knowledge of the Public Procurement Act No. 12 of 2008;
  • Must possess not less than 3 years experience in procurement in a busy environment.
