The International Growth Centre (IGC) in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), is currently establishing a new programme of work at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) that seeks to (a) help build a stronger monitoring and evaluation ecosystem in Bihar;(b)catalyse transformational ideas and generate evaluation knowledge; and (c) enhance skills of policymakers, researchers and practitioners to build greater institutional capacity to facilitate local adaptation of M&E knowledge. The IGC is currently seeking a part-time Country Office Assistant to be based in Zambia. The Office Assistant will be expected to work 16hrs per week divided equally across 4 days. Job Title: Country Office Assistant

Responsibilities

  • To lead the delivery of this programme, ADRI seeks to appoint a Programme Manager who will be part of the strategic leadership team and have executive responsibility for the management of the programme
  • The key responsibilities of the role will include — Managing a small team of Economists working for the programme, ensuring teamwork and motivation, Managing the implementation of the IGC/BMGF programme, ensuring high quality, timely and cost-effective preparation of major deliverables, and Leading local stakeholder engagement with local research and policy institutions
  • To deliver the services effectively, some flexibility is needed and the Programme Manager may be required to perform work not necessarily mentioned above
  • The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, policy-focused manager with experience in evaluation and a track record in successful delivery of academic research projects and policy engagement

  • The Office Assistant is responsible for the smooth operation of the IGC’s country programme with responsibility for all office activities such as equipment, communications, maintenance contracts, delivery of office correspondence, organising logistics for in-country events, and liaising with the IGC Hub in London
  • The Office Assistant will be based at the IGC-Z Offices in Rhodes Park, Lusaka and will work closely with the rest of the team in Zambia

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a proven ability to plan and manage complex administrative activities as well as the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
  • They will have excellent written and oral communication skills with a high level of proficiency in English
  • They must have a robust command of Microsoft office suite and some skills managing social media accounts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with people of various backgrounds and cultures is also essential to the role
