IITA is seeking to employ the services of a qualified and experienced Zambian national to fill up the following vacancy:

Regional Internal Auditor

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Internal Audit, the Regional Internal Auditor will be responsible for planning and executing risk based internal audit plans for the region based on IITA’s Standard Operating Procedures and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

Major duties and responsibilities of Regional Internal Auditor:

The major responsibilities of the Regional Internal Auditor include the following:

  • Represent the Internal Audit Unit within the Regional Hub.
  • Assists the Unit head in the preparation of quarterly reports to the Audit and Finance Committee.
  • Assist in the development of the unit’s annual risk based internal audit work plan.
  • Manage internal audit activities at the Regional Hub.
  • Execute the annual internal audit work plan in accordance with the
  • Develop audit engagement work plans and work programs for review by the supervisor.
  • Assess the adequacy of governance, risk management and internal controls.
  • Plan and execute effectiveness tests on projects, operations and financial systems.
  • Document work performed.
  • Propose and recommend improvements.
  • Appraise the adequacy of corrective actions taken to improve deficient conditions by following-up on past audit recommendations.
  • Prepare internal audit reports for review by the supervisor.
  • Provide advisory services requested by management within the Regional Hub.
  • Prepare performance reports in line with approved metrics.
  • Carryout investigations as may be required.
  • Liaise with external auditors and other assurance providers across the Regional Hub.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold an HND/B.Sc. Degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant qualification with at least 5 years of experience in auditing of which 2 years should be in a senior position. Professional membership of any of the following: CIA, CISA, CFE, ZICA, ACCA, CIMA is essential.

Core Competencies

  • The ideal candidate must have: Good knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Internal Controls.
  • Experience of ORACLE system or any ERP package and experience with MKInsight or other audit software packages is a distinct advantage.
  • Good communication skills, strong ability to co-ordinate priorities and take initiative within a very diverse multicultural environment.
  • Good working knowledge of English.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese is an added advantage but not a requirement.
