New Job Vacancies at Radiation Protection Authority [3Position] – August 2017


The Government of the Republic of Zambia created Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) through the enactment of the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005. The RPA is a body corporate which has a duty to protect the public, workers and the environment from the harmful effects arising from the use of devices or materials capable of producing ionizing radiation. In its continued effort to effectively carry out its mandate, the Authority seeks to employ appropriately qualified persons in the following positions:

Job Title: Technologist 

Job Objective

To undertake the issuance and evaluation of Thermo Luminescence Dosimeters (TLD) in order to assess the absorbed dose.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Undertakes effectively calibration of TLD badges In order to maintain reliable dosimeters
  • Undertakes timely issuance of TLD badges in order to facilitate collection of information of absorbed dose
  • Undertakes timely analysis of TLD badges in order to measure the absorbed dose
  • Undertakes effectively storage of TLD badges in order to avoid exposure from other external radiation sources
  • Undertakes accurately preparation of dose reports in order to facilitate decision making

Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:

  • Nil

Qualifications and requirements

  • Grade 12 or its equivalent
  • Diploma in Physical Sciences or its equivalent

Communications Skills:

i) Written Skills: Able to write laboratory reports
ii) Oral Skills: Able to communicate effectively
