Job Title: Senior Manager – Internal Audit

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the the Executive Director, the purpose of this job is to manage and coordinate Internal Audit activities to ensure that all transactions and operations of the ERB conform to acceptable international standards, principles, financial regulations and are within established policies and procedures/laws

  • Develops and implements internal audit strategies and programmes covering all vulnerable areas
    aimed at providing independent and objective advice to Management on risk Management, control
    and governance by measuring and evaluating their effectiveness in achieving the Institutional
    agreed objectives
  • Carries out periodic system reliability tests to confirm the efficiency, effectiveness and adequacy of
    the internal controls, systems and procedures in safeguarding ERB assets and prepares reports
    recommending to Management corrective measures
  • Formulates sound audit systems and methodologies in keeping with international standards and
    ensures their proper application in execution of planned and ad hoc audits
  • Reviews all management systems including Finance, Procurement and Stores, Human Resources etc. and carries out periodic checks of operations in order to identify areas vulnerable to latent risks
    and/or fraud, and makes appropriate recommendations to avert such risks
  • Provides support and liaises with external auditors to ensure audits are
    conducted expeditiously
  • Conducts post audits to ensure that transactions that may not have been covered by preaudits
    receive thorough scrutiny
  • Ensures that expenditure of the ERB is in line with the approved budget and in compliance with the
    contracts in place from time to time
  • Ensures that a satisfactory stores system is maintained and that authorization procedures for all
    payments and disposal of assets are strictly in accordance with the ERB Stores and Procurement
    procedures and are also in harmony with financial regulations
  • Supervises and provides guidance to Internal Auditor(s) in order to enhance skills and ensure
    quality work output
  • Carries out ad hoc and special audit investigations whenever requested by the Controlling Officer.

Qualifications

  • Organisation and planning skills
  • Grade 12 with university entrance passes
  • Degree in Accountancy or full ACCA or full CIMA
  • Member of Zambia Institution of Certified Accountants (ZICA)
  • Seven years accounting/auditing experience in a large firm
  • Public Service or Statutory Body auditing experience an added advantage
  • High attention to detail, analytical and good numeracy skills
  • Sound independent judgement
  • Proficiency in computer skills and ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Good communication and good interpersonal skills
