New Recruitment at International Labour Organization (ILO) in Zambia
The Zambia Green Jobs Programme is an inclusive green growth and private sector development initiative implemented by the Government of Zambia and it’s Social Partners (workers’ and employers’ organizations) with financing from the Government of Finland and technical assistance from the United Nations (UN), namely the lead International Labour Organization (ILO) in partnership with UNEP, FAO, UNCTAD and ITC. The programme aims to promote the development of the green economy in Zambia by supporting competitive and sustainable development of micro, small and medium enterprises in order for them to grow and create decent green jobs, initially in the building construction sector and potentially in other sectors. Zambia Green Jobs Programme seeks to recruit the following position: 1. National Project Officer – Communications And Publicity, Noa (Ref. Ilo/Lus/Npo/Com/8/2017/Tc)
Job Title: National Project Officer
Responsibilities
- Document and draft stories of significant change for each project component of the Zambia Green Jobs
- Programme that highlight some of the impacts of the program at national, sub-national and community-levels
- These can be in the form of case studies with high resolution photography, which singly or in a compendium, will be used to market the successes and lessons of the program
- Prepare a photo library of the Zambia Green Jobs Programme which documents the program’s achievements since its start date
- High resolution pictures from the photo library to be repurposed through the web and social media platforms
- They can also can be published or shared on flicker
- Draft in, or translate into, local language(s) news releases, official correspondence, statements and speeches and other public information material ensuring conformance to approved information policies and standards as well as professional journalistic style, accuracy and objectivity
- Ensure Twitter and Facebook accounts are regularly and professionally updated with relevant and effective content related to the results and events of the Zambia Green Jobs Programme, including for time to time, in liaison with communication teams across Africa and HQ Geneva
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication channels with mainstream media representatives, news services, editors, etc. to encourage accurate and favourable reporting of the organization’s activities
- The NPO will organize media breakfasts, press conferences, working lunch and field missions on the documentation and publicity of the Zambia Green jobs Programme
- Organize, synthesize and lead the design and drafting of the Programme Annual Reports, online quarterly
- Newsletter as well as other promotional materials related to issue-oriented campaigns and events
Qualifications
- First level university degree in a relevant field of Communications, Public Relations, Mass Media, Journalism, Marketing or other relevant field
- Two years of professional experience in development cooperation, preferably in the fields of inclusive green economic growth and decent jobs or climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Outstanding writing skills in particular case studies/success stories
- Excellent experiences for collecting case studies, success stories etc.
- Good understanding of the political, economic, environment and social sectors in Zambia
- Excellent command of English Language and a good knowledge of another language of the duty station
