NMS Infrastructure Zambia Limited is Currently Recruiting: Biomedical Engineer


NMS Infrastructure of the UK has been contracted by the Ministry of Health in Zambia to design, construct and equip three 200-bed District Hospitals and 108 Health Centres

NMS Infrastructure Zambia seeks an experienced and proven Biomedical Engineer to take on the tasks of Installation, Commissioning, Maintenance & Training (ICMT)

Reporting to: ICMT Manager

Based at: Lusaka with travel throughout Zambia

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (four years) or related subject
  • Minimum of five years’ experience of work in a hospital setting
  • Thorough knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Health & Safety standards is essential
  • International experience – proven ability to work within an international and local team of professionals
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Installation, Commissioning and preventive maintenance and repairs of all Medical & Non-Medical Equipment in the project
  • Evaluation of possible service contracts and outside vendor relationships
  • Maintaining familiarity with regulatory codes and standards
  • Collaboration with clinical staff to provide the highest level of patient safety
  • Maintaining relevant accreditation standards
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Managing departmental productivity and performance improvement initiatives
  • Assistance in the management of the CMMS
  • Ensuring stocks of spare/replacement parts are appropriate for maintenance of equipment
  • Managing timely completion of planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
  • Representing the ICMT department at assigned meetings
  • Delivery of Equipment End User Training and Refresher Training
  • Liaise with OEMs or their local agents to carry out Equipment User Training as necessary
  • Instructing hospital personnel on safe and proper operation and user maintenance of all hospital equipment
  • Supervision of departmental staff
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the ICMT Manager

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a proven and successful experience as a Biomedical Engineer or Supervisor in a hospital setting
  • Be an excellent and experienced team leader who believes in the value of people and who will encourage others around him
  • Be astute, commercially aware with a good grasp of business administration
  • Have experience in managing and optimising the effectiveness of project teams
  • Be literate in the use of MS Office, CMMS, security systems and other forms of communication
  • Have a Zambian Driving Licence
