The National Food and Nutrition Commission is a Statutory Body established under an Act of Parliament CAP 308 Chapter 41 of 1967, with the mandate of providing promotional, advisory and regulatory support to the government on matters of food and nutrition. In line with its mandate, NFNC with support from partners is implementing Phase Two (2) of the Multisectoral Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN)/1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program in various districts across Zambia.

The Institution now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up positions under this program, at National level:

NUTRITION EXPERT

JOB PURPOSE

To support NFNC to effectively coordinate the implementation of the 1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program Two (MCDP 2)

KEY RESULT AREA / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY (MAIN DUTIES)

Planning

Facilitate the development of Multispectral plans at national, provincial and district levels

Convergence of Interventions

Promote convergence of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions

Quality Assurance

Ensure quality assurance in the implementation of nutrition intervention activities

Government Networking Meetings

Organize periodic Government Networking meetings

Roll out tracking

Ensure tracking of MCDP 2 rollout plan

Joint Annual Assessment

Support the facilitation of JAA, and generate the JAA report for SUN activities

Technical backstopping

Organize technical backstopping to PNCCs and DNCCs

Reports

Generate periodic and progress reports for program activities

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
  • Masters’ Degree in Nutrition or Public Health is required
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the nutrition sector
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, and Outlook

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Able to write analytical and technical reports
  • Able to communicate effectively in English
  • Able to work with people of a different culture
  • Experience in training
