We provide smallholder farmers with farming inputs on credit such as certified seeds and fertilizer, delivery close to their homes, and a range of training to improve planting practices and quality of life. One Acre Fund is a non-governmental organization that aims to maximize impact on our farmers’ lives. In order to support our growing Impact Department, we are looking for a humble and hardworking individual for a full-time paid position in our Monitoring & Evaluation team.
*JOB DESCRIPTION*
The position of M&E Coordinator is a key position in the rapidly growing and developing Impact department. Understanding and measuring the impact our program has on our farmers is the primary goal of our program as we continuously strive to improve the lives of farmers. The Monitoring & Evaluation team carries out a seasonal impact evaluation of our maize program, and researches ad-hoc opportunities to improve our operations based on farmer needs.
The M&E Coordinator plays a vital role in the management of the field team, and designing and analyzing (survey-based) studies. Currently, our field team consists of 15 enumerators and three field supervisors. The individual who fills this role will be responsible for coaching and training the field supervisors, overseeing team meetings, ensuring high levels of data quality, and providing solutions to ad-hoc challenges in the field. He/she will also be asked to contribute to the design and programming of surveys and other data collections tools to ensure the highest level of data accuracy. Lastly, the M&E coordinator will be expected to clean data, prepare datasets and present basic survey results in an easy to interpret fashion. In addition to working on surveys, the M&E coordinators might also be asked to conduct qualitative research by means of focus-group discussions and farmer interviews. The position combines field and office work. In an average week, the M&E Coordinator is likely to spend 1 or 2 days in the field.

Candidates who fit the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- Strong work experiences: examples include a demanding professional experience (traineeship/internship), or successful entrepreneurial experience.
- Leadership experience at work, or outside of work.
- Top-performing academic background graduate of a 4-year university program and a possible graduate degree in statistics, economics, population studies, development studies, monitoring & evaluation, project management or any other relevant field of study with a strong grounding in quantitative and qualitative research.
Role specific skills:
- Practical experience with writing surveys for field data collection or experience with collecting data in the field.
- Coursework or work experience in research methods and/or statistics
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel, specifically:
- Ability to process data spreadsheets with useful data validation
- Ability to extract summary statistics using both Pivot Tables and Excel formula.
- Experience in statistical software packages such as SPSS, STATA, or R (desired). Or alternatively, experience with any other programming language.
- Proven ability to teach/mentor others
- Humility, teamwork, flexibility and a positive attitude.
- Languages: English (required), Bemba, Tonga and/or Nyanja (at least one required)
