Job Title: Technician Broadband Service

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Technician – Broadband Service is responsible for installation and troubleshooting, Leased lines and wireless.

REPORTS TO: HEAD BROADBAND SERVICE

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out a structured installation of Broadband nodes while maintaining acceptable standards and best practices.
• Provide first line troubleshooting of broadband related problem on the phone and customer site.
• Carry out site surveys and producing comprehensive reports of the results.
• Carry out installation and preventive maintenance on ZAMNET’s base station equipment and other infrastructure required to provide broadband service.
• Carry out structured cable networks (LAN) installation and maintenance.
• Configure customer terminal equipment in accordance with ZAMNET best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Full Grade Twelve Certificate
• Must possess a Minimum of a Diploma in Telecoms or Computer Science from a recognised institution.
• A working knowledge of Wireless, Optic Fibre, DSL and PLC technologies.
• Knowledge of basic electrical installation, earthing, troubleshooting and safety standards.
• A thorough knowledge of structured cabling and civil works in line with prevailing safety standards.
• Rigging skills and ability to work outdoors and at elevated heights.
• Preferably N+ certification and City and Guilds Technician qualifications
• Basic understanding of Networking and network devices that comprise Broadband infrastructure.
• Driving License is a must have (Manual Transmission).
• Must be a member of a relevant professional body.
