First Aid Africa limited (FAA) is a social enterprise currently established in Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. We provide quality-driven professional first aid training to corporate organizations and communities across the continent. FAA has, in total, trained over 40,000 first aiders in East and Southern Africa over the last decade. We deliver direct training to approximately 5000-8000 people each year; as well as providing learning resources and training materials for a variety of organizations. We also mentor new first aid trainers – ensuring the next generation of instructors can lead the way for years to come.
Intern- Administration
About the role:
FAA seeks to recruit two (2) interns to support a team of international instructors. The candidate will be responsible for working directly with a team of 5 international first aid instructors to support the team throughout their training itinerary with various groups in Zambia. This entails pick-ups and drop-offs to and from training venues (in and outside Lusaka), liaising with training host groups regarding logistics and preparation for training. This position will provide general support to the team during and outside training sessions. The duration of this internship is 6 weeks and requires approximately 30-40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to:
To facilitate movements (to and from training venues) for instructors.
- To interpret training content into the local language during community sessions.
- To identify and solve any problems in the field and alert the supervisor at the earliest possible convenience.
Accurate completion and prompt submission of all relevant accounting document (basic bookkeeping). - To ensure instructors arrive in good time, to prepare the training room and engage with trainees before sessions.
- To liaise, on arrival, with host organization/group contacts to ensure the smooth running of the course.
- To demonstrate the ability to work with a team in a variety of roles ranging from providing assistance to assuming limited leadership.
- To take responsibility for the safety and welfare of volunteers in the field.
- To maintain training records (trainee lists, schedules, attendance sheets and submit weekly reports).
- To act as a primary point-of-contact in the field.
- This role has the potential for travel outside Lusaka Province.
- Other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a social science field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in Bemba, Nyanja or Lenje.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Competency in Microsoft Office.
- Mature and aged between 25-35years.
- Must be available for 6 weeks starting 22nd July to 31st August 2019 and must be able to commit 30hrs – 40hrs per week.
- Excellent organization, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Holder of valid drivers’ license with a road-worthy vehicle with engine capacity 900cc to 1500cc (petrol) or 1500cc to 2000cc (Diesel); attach a copy of the white book and driver’s license in the application.
