The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.

With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.

The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day workshop activities and ensure that the relevant and set financial, productivity, stock control and quality performance measures are met
  • Design and implement light vehicle workshop policies and procedures
  • Develop quality standards for vehicle servicing and ensure all maintenance actions are carried out to the appropriate standard and within the acceptable timescale
  • Develop and implement a workshop reporting regime as required
  • Maintain a high level of equipment availability and reliability at optimal cost
  • Minimize vehicle down time through effective scheduling and organization
  • Undertake workshop and fleet audits and all quality management checks
  • Support compliance to all legislative requirements, internal health and safety standards
  • Deliver technical initiatives and projects through satisfactory outcomes
  • Ensure continuous improvement in all engineering standards, using best practices
  • Ensure that the department is adequately staffed to achieve objectives, and that technicians are aware of procedures for using new products and equipment
  • Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials in the service area
  • Facilitate the training and development of team members in the department, by providing feedback and coaching to support improvement
  • Evaluate the impact of work delays, interruptions or changes in plans to develop an appropriate course of action
  • Review service orders and inspect the quality of  technician repairs before the release of vehicles
  • Review work orders to ensure that all actions have been documented according to service workshop policies and procedures
  • Plan and prepare an annual budget for the department and facilities, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating correct actions
  • Collaborate across the business including working closely with departments
  • Liase with external parts and service providers when required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Degree in Engineering/Mechanical/equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a light vehicle servicing environment, of which at least 3 years in a management role
