Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 228 square kilometres.
Completed and commissioned in 2012, Lubambe is an underground operation supported by a shaft and decline access with a 2.5 million tonne per annum capacity ore concentrator. The mine’s current depth is 450meters producing a high-grade copper concentrate which is then treated at Zambian smelters.
The mine currently employs 1, 125 direct employees, a further 800 contractors. It places the highest priority on safety with a world class safety system.
Supporting local communities and suppliers is a key business focus of the mine.
EMR Capital owns an 80% controlling interest in Lubambe while ZCCM-IH owns 20%.
The Mine seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:
INVESTIGATIONS OFFICER (x1)
This position reports to the Security Manager.
Core Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to carry out investigations to recover stolen or misallocated company property.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Conduct investigations in all criminal cases affecting the company as well as cases of misappropriation of company property.
- Conduct security audits of company materials drawn from stores in order to ensure that they are utilised in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Liaise with state security agencies on crime patterns in order to enhance cooperation.
- Attend to company cases in courts of law in order to give evidence and to ensure that offenders are prosecuted.
- Supervise informants in order to ensure the collection and collation of information on security risks and breaches affecting the system.
- Sensitise employees and communities encroaching in the mine curved areas and other restricted areas.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Grade Twelve with five O’ levels which must include English.
- Certificate/Diploma in Law or any Social Science.
- At least 10 years’ experience in handling security matters.
- Must be Computer literate and possess a driver’s licence.
- Must show appreciation of Zambian Laws.
- Zambia Police /Mine Police Training.
- Must not be over 50 years old.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
