The National Council for Construction (NCC) is a regulatory body for the Construction sector established by the National Council for Construction Act No. 13. of 2003. DRIVER – GRADE NCC 7 (3) HEAD OFFICE

Reporting directly to the Workshop Foreman, the job holder will drive the assigned NCC vehicle in a safe manner in order to transport staff, goods and materials to support NCC operations.

Main Duties/ Accountabilities

  • Inspect the assigned vehicle daily or before undertaking any trip, checking tyre pressure, oil and water levels, indicators to confirm roadworthiness of the vehicle.
  • Drive the assigned vehicle to destination as instructed by the supervisor in order to transport staff, goods, materials, parcels, mail while observing traffic rules and regulations.
  • Ensure trip authorization by maintaining a vehicle log book and securing authorizations.
  • Report to the police and supervisor any accident involving assigned Company vehicle, following the Council’s reporting procedure.
  • Report all faults detected on the assigned vehicle to the supervisor for corrective action.
  • Clean the assigned vehicle by washing, dusting, vacuuming and polishing as necessary to ensure cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in a reputable organisation

Other skills and attributes

  • Must be of sober character;
  • Dependable;
  • Ability to read and write messages and instructions;
  • Maintaining records and undertake calculations;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision; and
  • Ability to undertake long distance driving.
