Women for Change (WfC) is a Gender-focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Project Officers (2) for the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project in eight districts of Central, Southern, Eastern and Western Provinces in Zambia. The Project Officers will be expected to work under the supervision of WfC Programmes, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager in implementing the WEE Project which is support by We Effect and funded by the Embassy of Sweden.

Overall Purpose: Provide capacity building in line with Women for Change standards to improve governance and accountability principles in Community Based Organisations in order to increase women`s agency and decision-making power at household and community levels to address barriers to women`s economic empowerment.

The Key roles and responsibilities will be to:

  1. a) Participate in the development of annual, quarterly work plans.
    b) Participate in planning and implementation of project activities.
    c) Lead the planning and implementation of district level capacity building trainings.
    d) Participate in the design of training programmes, training manuals in line with WfC standards.
    e) Participate in review meetings and other relevant stakeholder meetings.
    f) Organize and participate in monthly, quarterly and annual Programme Coordination meetings at district.
    g) Continuously capture and document data and information relating to the project performance.
    h) Document successes, best practices and lessons learnt from Programme interventions
    i) Together with District Women Associations identify community needs and strengthen group development, leadership and decision-making programs using Participatory Education Methodologies to ensure equal participation by both women and men, girls and boys.
    j) Promote and strengthen economic empowerment initiatives for target stakeholders to increase women`s agency and decision-making power at household and community levels.
    k) Mobilize, organize and capacity build community-based structures for efficient and effective implementation of activities to strengthen women`s voice and collective power at community level to increase access to and control over productive resources among women through District Women Associations.
    l) Promote action research at community level to gather information and analysis on Women economic empowerment.
    m) Collect data on regular basis to measure achievement against the project performance indicators and targets. identifying the causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation.
    n) Provide activity-based monthly and quarterly status reports to the supervisor.
    o) In collaboration with the Finance and Administration Officer, provide the Management team with management information that they may require.

Minimum Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s degree in Social Science or other related academic background
  • Master`s degree in a related field will be an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of continuous traceable experience in working with rural communities.
  • Experience in community engagement including working with traditional leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of gender and gender analysis using participatory tools
  • Excellent English Language – written and oral skills
  • Excellent oral local language skills
  • Computer literate in Excel, PowerPoint and Ms. Word
  • Ability to effective conduct capacity building programs in local language
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports
  • Holder of a driver`s license
