To provide pre-test and post-test counselling services to individuals and couples to enable them to achieve more effective psychological and behavioural adjustments and contribute to averting new HIV infections and to promote access to treatment, care and support in line with the approved national standards.

 

Job responsibilities

  • To be responsible for providing quality pre-test, post-test counselling and psychosocial support to clients in order to enhance behaviour change.
  • To be responsible for mobilization clients for Testing and counselling in order to create demand for the services.
  • To maintain a proper record system in order to ensure that confidentiality for clients is upheld all times.
  • To be responsible for conducting health education sessions before providing counselling in order to help clients make informed decisions.
  • To be responsible for recruiting all HIV positive clients for post-test services, TB and STI screening in order to provide effective linkage and referral system.
  • To conduct and facilitate post-test support programs for all recruited clients in order to provide hope for positive living, e.g. economic strengthening.
  • To be responsible for recruiting and referring all male HIV negative clients for MC services in order increase uptake of MC services aimed at reducing HIV infections.

Required Qualification

  • Grade 12 Certificate with a diploma or Certificate in Psychosocial Counselling
  • Registered and hold valid practicing licence with Zambia Counselling Council
  • Certification in conducting HIV rapid tests

Key Competencies

  • Core counselling skills; communication, Facilitating, Problem-solving skills and conversant with micro soft word and excel.
