Lusaka Provincial Health Office (LPHO) with Support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the under-listed positions:

Job Title: Paediatric ART Coordinator

Location: Lusaka Provincial Health Office

Job Purpose: To provide technical and leadership oversight and support in the Province as needed to improve Paediatric HIV Case identification, linkage to treatment, retention, and viral suppression.

Reports to: Clinical Care Specialist

  1. Principal Accountabilities:
  2. Work through existing Ministry of Health (MOH) structures and systems to build the capacity of staff working in all supported Districts and facilities in the Province in order to provide quality Paediatric HIV services;
  3. The jobholder will work collaboratively with other staff within the Ministry and project staff to build local capacity on implementation of special initiatives (e.g. Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD), and other HIV prevention, treatment, care and support strategies to improve Paediatric HIV services;
  4. S/he will support the technical staff serving under the project and other Ministry of Health staff and will review and monitor work plans and performance monitoring plans and provide timely feedback;
  5. S/he will work with other staff within the ministry functionaries to guide health facilities, tracking progress against performance indicators as part of the project’s Performance Monitoring Plan and semi-annual and annual portfolio review processes;
  6. S/he will work with the Provincial, District, and hospital technical leads for HIV programs to plan and monitor implementation of activities and ensure that CDC-supported activities for children and Adolescents are responsive to the national strategies for the areas;
  7. The jobholder will be responsible for finding creative solutions to challenges identified at sites and provide targeted and data-driven clinical mentorship to staff for pediatric care services, including eMTCT in health facilities and monitoring of improvement in service delivery;
  8. Ensure that all supported facilities are integrating EID in all EPI activities in order to optimize Paediatric HIV Case Identification (Missed Opportunities); and
  9. Ensure that all supported districts and facilities are meeting key performance indicators under the pediatric HIV / TB program as highlighted in the National HIV strategic plan for 2017 – 2021 in line with the National policy of achieving HIV epidemic control.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with five (5) credits or better including Mathematics, Science and English;
  • Fully qualified Medical Doctor from a reputable institution, preferably with MMed in Paediatrics and Child Health;
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in the field of TB and HIV control activities, supervisory experience at a health facility or district level will be an added advantage.
  • A Post basic qualification in Paediatric HIV management and programming
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia with a valid practicing license.
  • Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft Office application, including data analysis.
  • Must have experience in PEPFAR supported TB / HIV activities.
  • Good proficiency in oral and written English as well as interpersonal skills
