1. Overall Mission

The Central Planner has a solid line reporting to the Logistics Manager. The role requires to act as the liaison (point of contact) for the logistics, production and sales teams and ensure the timeous execution of supply plans developed by all the teams. The incumbent will ensure optimum volume throughput and utilization of Company resources and people, in order to support production, logistics and sales in the supply of stock for grid requirements.

2. Key Dimensions

The Central Planner will be responsible for:

  • Co-ordinating execution of supply plans (demand, production, materials, imports and interdepot) in country
  • Monitor and report country adherence and/or performance to supply plans
  • Facilitate the S &OP in market

3. Responsibilities

  • Develop production schedules and manage changes as necessary: weekly and daily packaging/ racking schedules which align to production and sales planning’s requirements, whilst taking into account production constraints and optimally utilising production resources.
  • Compile short, medium and long term plans across the value chain. Monitor raw material supply through interaction with stakeholders (Warehouse, Logistics, procurement and  sales)
  • Monitor raw materials supply to production through correspondence with raw materials controllers, and factor into production plans
  • Implementation of improved projects across the value chain
  • Agree and report reliability numbers to stakeholders according to the reporting
  • Communicate supply risks and opportunities to Country Management Team as well as the production and sales team
  • Manage both demand and supply stakeholder relationships and interactions
  • Support the development of the Company  budget
  • Manage expenditure against budget / forecast and identify productivity opportunities
  • Evaluate KPI performance and provide root cause analysis of poor performance

4. Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Statistics  or equivalent
  • Membership of professional bodies  would be advantageous
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, or within a similar function
