PATH Zambia Latest Recruitment: Project Director, Zambia Country Program

PATH is currently recruiting for a Project Director upcoming DFID-funded nutrition fund management project.

PATH has been working in support of the Zambia Ministry of Health since 2004. The Zambia Country Program portfolio includes projects across priority health programs such as malaria, nutrition and immunization as well as policy and advocacy with funding from USAID and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. With a staff compliment of over 100, the PATH Zambia office is fast growing and the second largest office in Africa.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the design and implementation of a nutrition fund management program.
  • Facilitate senior-level dialogue with all levels of government, including working at the district and community level.
  • Ensure close coordination with NFNC, DNCCs, and the USAID SUNTA and SUNTA LE implementers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the effective use and coordination of DFID and pooled resources and the compliance of the financial systems and controls with DFID standards.
  • Lead internal and external program planning and reporting including annual work planning with subrecipients.
  • Develop and manage a team that includes members of diverse backgrounds in order to successfully co-create and support sustainable integrated design.
  • Develop a business plan outlining the financial sustainability of the initiative.
  • Ensure sound financial management including programmatic budgeting, spending projections, and monitoring of payments.
  • Work closely with PATH Headquarters to ensure high-quality periodic reporting.
  • Serve as the main representative of the project to DFID.

Required Experience

  • Deep experience leading DFID fund management programs
  • Deep knowledge of the local health context in Zambia, with a particular focus on nutrition.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills; an understanding of unique private sector approaches to development; and proven ability to produce results.
  • Demonstrated ability in the concepts, principles, methods and techniques of designing and implementing integrated health interventions.
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively working with the Zambian government, DFID, and other key stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to successfully recruit, train, develop and manage staff
  • Ability to negotiate and manage agreements and all required programmatic and financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of DFID grant and implementation is required.
  • Excellent management, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Capacity to effectively deal with and resolve a conflict.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • A Master’s degree or higher in business, public health, management, or related field.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of nutrition and/or fund management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years working on £25-50 million pooled fund programs.
