People’s Action Forum (PAF) is a non-governmental organization working in seven districts of Central, Eastern and Southern Provinces of Zambia in the field of education and community development.

To lead resource development and management of our business development unit from our Head Office in Lusaka we are looking for a Business Development Officer.

The Business Development Officer (BDO) supervises and guides the resource mobilization efforts of both the Head Office staff and provincial programme staff and volunteers. The BDO provides support to the Board in its fundraising role through the Executive Staff, and New Business Development Team.

The BDO will lead in acquisition and development of new projects/partnerships in line with the strategic purposes of PAF, and will therefore manage analysis, planning, and execution of fundraising and marketing programmes.

Specifically, the suitable candidate will, in their main responsibilities:

  • Work with the Management Team to develop local and own fundraising streams
  • Provide administrative and executive support to the New Business Development Team
  • Manage implementation of fundraising and public relations programmes
  • Coordinate engagement with potential partner agencies and funders
  • Oversee the community entrepreneurship support program

Requiring the applicant to have:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in education, social sciences or relevant field
  • Demonstrable experience in organisational resource development, with success in grant proposals for donor-funded partnerships, and business development
  • Level of experience and interest in running rural based resource mobilization programmes
  • Proficiency in donor relations and making public presentations;
  • Good knowledge in Excel and Word
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with proven experience in good report writing

The suitable candidate will be proactive but with strong team playing skills and an outgoing personality that can handle challenges of working with the diverse constituency of our target groups.
