Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on education, health and sanitation, economic empowerment, and child protection and participation. Plan International’s work is guided by our Child-Centered Community Development (CCCD) approach. Plan International Zambia has programme units in: Central, Luapula, Eastern, province and in Lusaka, where the Country Office (CO) is located.
Plan International Zambia is looking for innovative, motivated self starter to fill the following temporary position :
Corporate Engagement Officer – Bridging the Digital Divide (5 month Temporary Position)
Job Purpose: The Corporate Engagement Officer will be the liaison focal point person for all Corporate Engagement activities under the Bridging the Digital Divide Project. She/he will facilitate the link with Programme Units on all matters relating to corporate engagement for a period of five (5) months of the inception/ mobilisation phase of the project.
Key responsibilities for this position include;
- Brokering strategic partnerships and relationships with corporates to solicit investments in the project components (digital product solutions, jobs, grants to youths)
- Establishing close synergies with programme and technical staff to support discussions with strategic corporates ensuring consistent and coherent messaging
- Interacting regularly with field staff to track corporate support, project progress, and identifying potential risks.
- Influencing private organisation to support the youth in kind or possibly through financial support for youth empowerment.
- Facilitating engagement of local business firms in the creation of tailored products, or services for underserved and disadvantaged youth populations.
- Contributing to final project design based on the outcomes of the inception phase.
- Identification of trainings for youths that can best suit the digital job market.
- Mapping of digital jobs and technology-enabled businesses and other assessments as informed in the market scan.
- Awareness creation for child right issues, knowledge sharing with local communities (i.e. digital learning space), and functional expertise on corporate engagement aiding the project (i.e. technology support)
Individual Specifications include:
- A Diploma in Public Relations, Human Resource, Marketing or related discipline.
- 2-4 years’ experience in NGO sector or corporate companies; working with children and communities; and managing youth-related programmes and projects would be an added advantage
- Proven success in developing and maintaining relationships with corporate donors
- Proven success in securing resources from corporate organisations
- Experience in developing and writing concept papers, briefs and business style executive summaries;
- Strong communication skills: written, analytical and verbal competencies;
- Possessing proven clear understanding of the realities of youth unemployment and programming at national, district and field experience.
- Having understanding of effective internal and external communications.
- Knowledge of capacity development and knowledge transfer of methodologies for youth development
- Excellence in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
