Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme units in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

Plan is seeking a suitable person to fill the positions of Sponsorship Communications in the Eastern and Luapula Program Unit

Sponsorship Communications Coordinator – Eastern x1 and Luapula x1 PU (3 Year contract)

The position exists to manage all activities within the Sponsorship Unit at the PU level and ensures that all processing of program and communications meet or exceed Plan quality standards and other organizational The incumbent reports to the Programme Unit Manager 

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensure that all sponsorship communications are verified for quality purposes.
  • Communicate timely to PU staff on any updates/changes
  • Ensure that all sponsored children’s cancellations are verified in the field and validated.
  • Ensure Sponsor visits are well coordinated and reported as per established procedures and schedules.
  • Ensure all sponsor visits are managed in accordance with the child protection policy standards and practices.
  • Ensure all queries are dealt with promptly, courteously, professionally and insufficient details.
  • Build relations with National Office relations to promote sponsor retention.
  • Schedule of all sponsorship communications in the corporate systems
  • Manage corporate systems to ensure that accurate, reliable and up-to-date information on all aspects of Sponsorship communications is available at all times
  • Identify training needs for community-based organizations, children and volunteers on sponsorship communications to enhance child participation and community empowerment.
  • Facilitate training workshops for children, volunteers and community-based organizations on community managed sponsorship communications.
  • Establish and develop the capacities of community-based organization in the management of sponsorship communications at community level
  • Ensure all contributions to the discussions and decisions/choices made reflect an understanding and appreciation of the needs and direction of the larger organization.
  • Ensure operational integration and teamwork between departments for learning and high-quality services.
  • Participate in the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of child sponsorship communications and area documents at PU level
  • Establish partnerships with various stakeholders to increase local resource mobilization and long-term sustainability

Individual Specifications:

  • A Degree in Development Studies or related discipline.
  • 2- 4 years’ experience in NGO sector; willingness to work with children and communities; and managing child-related programs and projects would be an advantage
