Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme units in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

We are looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the positions of Temporary Community Development Facilitator (CDF) for six (6) months.

Position Description

The CDF reports to the Programme Coordinator Child Protection and Participation. He/She will constantly interact with the other programme coordinators as the focal point person who mobilizes families and children to actively participate in different developmental programmes.

Key areas of responsibility include:

The incumbent is responsible for mobilizing communities and facilitating on Plan thematic areas to ensure the mandate of Plan is achieved. The incumbent does the following activities:

  • Living in the community as part of Plan Global Immersion Strategy
  • Facilitates effective participation of children, families, communities, and stakeholders in programme activities
  • Monitoring of projects in the community in line with the project monitoring framework
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and networks at ward and village level.
  • Facilitate meetings of sponsored families and communicate outcomes to the PU office.
  • Regular interaction with sponsored children and their families through home visitations, open days, and other meetings
  • Supports community-based structures (Community Associations) in 100% quality checking of all sponsorship communications before submission to the PU office.

 

Individual Specifications include:

  • A Diploma in Development Studies or related discipline.
  • A Class 3 or 4 Driver`s license and ability to ride a motorbike
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role in an NGO environment
  • Promotes high performance
  • innovative and willing to learn
  • Good report writing skills
  • Participatory methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills
