Procurement Interns Wanted at Yalelo Limited – Deadline 22 August 2017

We breed and grow our tilapia on the shores of Lake Kariba and sell our product fresh nation-wide.

For Yalelo, Procurement is viewed as a vital support function, that impacts the smooth and effective running of the business.  The objective of the Procurement department is to add value to the organisation by providing efficient and responsive procurement services, obtaining high-quality goods and services at a reasonable price.

Yalelo is looking for a talented individual to join the team as a Procurement Intern, assisting in all aspects of the procurement process.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Intern will be responsible for, amongst other things:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with co-workers, the management team and other relevant stakeholders
  • Communicating with suppliers, obtaining price quotes and requesting completion of Procurement-related forms
  • Expediting Purchase Requisitions and Orders as per business priorities
  • Inputting data into the Procurement system and maintaining the Supplier database
  • Daily Procurement Status Reporting
  • General Administration work
  • Participating in department activities and completing assigned tasks/participating in relevant departmental projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduate or currently enrolled with an accredited institute having acquired or pursuing a qualification in Procurement or related subject matter(s.)

 

Person Specification

  • High level of integrity and ethically principled
  • 6 months+ work experience with a reputable/professional organisation (preferred)
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions, as needed
  • Dedicated team player who takes initiative, is detail oriented, organized and has proven ability to follow up tasks through to quality completion
  • Comfortable working with internal and external parties
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of MS Office (preferably MS Excel)
  • Ability to work Monday to Saturday
