Procurement Manager x 1

Position Location: Chilanga

Overall Job Purpose

To manage the company’s purchasing function in accordance with world best practice, and also in relation with the LafargeHolcim Group policies and procedures, ensuring that purchasing activities enable company objectives to be met on time and in the budget allocated and ensuring that opportunities available in the market are harnessed by the company.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies to streamline and integrate the Procurement processes in Lafarge Zambia Pic so as to maximise realisation of the purchasing synergies between the two plants.
  • Develop the purchasing strategy to help leverage the purchasing activities.
  • Define and co-ordinate the interface with the Lafarge Procurement team with reference to Group Purchasing strategies, reporting,  pilot actions and market coordination in order to utilise available opportunities.
  • Participate in the company’s objectives setting. budgeting and performance monitoring, and define the Purchasing vision, mission and objectives in line the company’s priorities and ensure harmony with LafargeHolcim Group Procurement.
  • Set long, medium and short term purchasing objectives in line with company objectives.
  • Facilitate the continuous implementation of purchasing policy in the company.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of purchasing resources.
  • Ensure negotiating the price, dates, payment terms of goods and services acquired by Lafarge Zambia in consultation with Finance and end users and other value adding activities are undertaken.
  • Coordinate the purchasing activities of the Grinding Media for Sub-Sahara Africa.
  • Lead Procurement and administration of Service contracts and long term contracts for bath Plants and projects procurement.
  • Administer the supplier registration process, securely retaining documents for future reference undertaking supplier appraisals and deregister others where appropriate.
  • Ensure that the company’s interests are protected at all times by establishing proper procedures and processes to avoid conflicts of interest, unnecessary gifts, etc by ensuring that systems and contracts are in place.
  • Ensure that the contracts and the contractors coming on site are duly inducted on the issues of contractors’ safety.
  • Help in managing and developing the team in order to meet their career expectations and facilitate a continuous culture change that promotes teamwork and a continuous improvement attitude to obtain world-class performance in the Supply Chain process.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Skills

  • Minimum Degree in any Business or Technical Field.
  • Professional qualification, Diploma CIPS (Chartered).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience at a sufficiently high management level in supply activities.
  • In depth knowledge of the production materials.
  • High sense of vision and purpose and ability to lead people and inspiring them towards a common goal.
  • Ability to lead change and create a participative and supportive environment open to change.
