The United Church of Zambia it’s currently looking for an individual to fill in the position of;
Project Coordinator
Reporting to: The General Secretary – The United Church of Zambia
In response to the severe dry spell and crop production failure in much of Western and Southern Zambia. The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) is implementing a food security and drought mitigation project in conjunction with World Renew and Canadian Food grain Bank in Mwandi, Western Province. Zambia. The intervention is scheduled for ten months between July 2015 and April 2016, reaching 2500 households or approximately 15,000 people with food assistance and the reestablishment of crop production and food supply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• To assist the local church in the development of an efficient, inclusive and transparent Food assistance program across the targeted area.
• To assist in the development of monthly work plans and distribution schedules and ensure they are completed
• To work with the local church in the selected communities to ensure representative collaboration and participation for all in program activities and distributions
• To assist UCZ and World Renew Staff in the procurement and the supply of food assistance items and program needs and that they meet required standards of quality.
• Ensure that the water component of the food assistance is implemented to the exact standards and specifications required by World Renew’s policies in relation to the drilling and equipping of boreholes
• Ensure community participation the design, construction and care of local production units at community primary schools
• To ensure they and accurate narrative and financial reports be availed to donors as required
• To assist with the design, planning and execution of community trainings in sustainable agriculture as part of the food security component of the project.
Minimum Requirements
• A strong and committed Christian
• Previous experience (3 years)of community programming in a rural setting
• Previous experience of work in a disaster response scenario would be desirable.
• Familiarity in WFP base standards for school feeding programs and production units would be desirable
• Previous experience in Church and Community Mobilization in developing responses to community
• Previous experience in logistics and procurement would be an added advantage
• Strong IT skills with strong proficiency In Email and Microsoft office. (This may be tested at assessment)
• Strong, healthy and physically fit
