In Partnership with KinderNotHilfe (KNH) of Germany. JCM is implementing a project entitled “Integrated Nutrition Security Intervention in Zambia” (SEWOH II)

Jesus Cares Ministries is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and Christian individuals to take up the following position: –

PROJECT MANAGER (1)

Purpose of the Position: To coordinate SEWOH II Project at the district level and provide technical and strategic guidance to the planned nutrition programme activities in the target rural health facilities and community of Lunte District, Northern Province. The job holder will provide support and guidance to the District Nutrition Coordinating Committees (DNCC), the Ward Coordinating Committees (WCC), the line Ministry Departments, and other stakeholders at the district level on project planning and implementation. He/She will work in close collaboration with the Project Officer, Social Worker and Field Officers in area of Health/Nutrition/WASH/ Agriculture and Livestock production to improve the nutrition status of Pregnant and Lactating Women and Children Under 5 years old. The Project Manager will be based in Northern Province.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the Project Manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership to the project and coordinate with Lusaka-based JCM technical staff, other project staff and local partners as needed to ensure all SEWOH II project deliverables are on track towards reaching the overall project goal, strategic objectives and beneficiary targets
  • Facilitate the development of capacity building plan and trainings for partner staff and volunteers on ttC model, Maternal Infant Young Child Nutrition and homestead food production in collaboration with NFNC, MoH, MoA, and MoL
  • Jointly develop and implement capacity building plan for DNCC and WNCC members in collaboration with NFNC and line ministries to improve coordination.
  • Develop quality field implementation plans in collaboration with DNCC and WNCC members and collaborate with relevant line ministries in implementation of nutrition programmes.
  • Participate and review data collection tools with the Project Officer and MEAL Manager to generate lessons learnt for project improvement.
  • Work closely with the M&E Manager to ensure clear understanding, tracking, and capturing project indicators and quality reporting. Utilize and adapt to learning from monitoring and evaluation processes to inform programming.
  • Ensure the quality implementation of the SEWOH II project in close collaboration with the stakeholders/partners at district, provincial and national level in nutrition meetings and other relevant technical working groups.
  • Consolidate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for timely submission.
  • Support the project implementation according to the work plans and prepare reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Nutrition, Health or Public Health is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in nutrition, health, WASH and/or Food security programmes
  • Sound knowledge on Zambia child health and nutrition situation especially excellent technical knowledge on nutrition programming.
  • Strong change management, results-oriented, and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively with other stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision to meet short-term deadlines.
  • Commitment and drive to achieve challenging goals and problem-solving.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines, including following deadlines, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing essential
  • Must have excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical, decision making, conflict management, negotiation, networking, liaison, and donor engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and functional teams.
  • Computer skills inclusive of Word a PowerPoint and Excel
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 60% of the time.
