Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nchanga, Konkola, Nkana and Nampundwe.
KCM’s operations include a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit, and underground mines and a refinery. KCM’s vision is to leverage minerals and Human Resources to enhance stakeholder value and Zambia’s pride. To support this vision KCM will be recruiting qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions at Nchanga in Chingola.
PROJECT MINERALOGIST X 2
Job Purpose
Carry out mineralogical examination of samples submitted to the Mineralogy Laboratory in accordance with the requirements of the Quality System.
Job Accountabilities:
- Supervise the mineralogical assistants in samples preparations and ensure adherence to documented procedures
- Ensure that the samples analysis follows the procedures to check the accuracy of results by use of standard briquettes
- Ensure Turn Around Time (TAT) for samples analysis is in accordance with Departmental Quality Objectives
- Monitor and track that the mineralogy equipment is regularly maintained and kept in a calibrated state
Requirements:
- Degree in Geology, Metallurgy or related field
- At least 2 years of work experience in Mineralogy Lab operations
- Result oriented and self-starter
- Computer literate
- Innovative and able to work independently
- Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
