World Vision Zambia Limited, a child-focused, Christian, non-governmental organization (NGO) seeks to recruit a qualified candidates who is motivated and result oriented to fill the following position:
Responsibilities
(Locations Namwala, Sinanzongwe & Monze)
- The Project Officer will be responsible for facilitating the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of all field activities and ensure direct liaison with Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Community Development, Local Government, Housing and Water Affairs
- She or he will have strong expertise in agriculture, food and nutrition and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and will work closely with field staff from the line ministries
- She or he will also be responsible for providing technical support to field project staff and partner staff to strengthen their capacity for planning and implementation of field activities on health, maternal, infant and young child nutrition including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and, economic empowerment in the delivery of health and nutrition extension services to targeted communities and households in the district
- Coordinate and Oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health, nutrition, agriculture and WASH field activities in direct liaison with Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Community Development and Local Government and Housing in the district
- Strengthen the nutrition community structures and referral systems
- Facilitate formation of the Nutrition Coordinating Committee at district level to develop understanding and capacity in nutrition
- Work with the M&E officer to oversee implementation of field level M&E processes and ensure timely data collection, analysis and reporting at district level
- Write and submit progress reports to relevant WVZ units
- Facilitate formation of the Nutrition Coordinating Committee at district level
- Network through Participating at district fora such as District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC), District Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC) and any other relevant district meetings on WASH, DWASH and Agriculture and Food security to influence policy and to advocate for improved delivery of nutrition services
- Enhance relationships with partners through networking
- Ensure compliance with World Vision and donor policies, criteria and procedures with respect to project implementation
- Through regular project monitoring document successes and challenges arising from implementation; conferring with project stakeholders and providing solutions, support and assistance as required
- Facilitate regular project review meetings with field staff and partners at district level
Qualifications
- University degree or diploma in Agriculture, nutrition or health related field
- Clinical Officers and nurses with public health experience are encouraged to apply
3-5 years of work experience at grassroots level in project management including design, budgeting, monitoring & evaluation - Knowledge and demonstrated experience in implementing and delivery of Nutrition, WASH and economic empowerment related activities
- Proven experience with practical and impactful gender equity and women’s empowerment approaches to development and humanitarian action
- Experience working with DHO, Agriculture and Local government is an added advantage
- Experience managing IYCF, PD Hearth iCCM or other nutrition and health related issues focusing on children will be an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team builder
- Able to perform necessary field assignments such as travel over difficult terrain.
Riding a motorbike is an added advantage - Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point)
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Perform other duties as required
- Field-based (80%) of the time in the field and 20% in the office
- Domestic travels may be expected
- Ready to work longer working hours including weekends when need arises
