Project Officer: Mercy Corps Zimbabwe

Mercy Corps’ Mobile Bids and Offers Serving Smallholders program seek to develop an innovative platform that allows smallholder farmers and buyers to connect in a cost effective manner. The program seeks to improve smallholder farmer access to agriculture markets to improve productivity, incomes and contribute to increased food security.

The Project Officer is responsible for implementing aspects of Mobile Bids and Offers Serving Smallholders Program. Specifically, the Project Officer will contribute to the achievement of the project objectives through leading on concept development, working closely with system developers on designing and testing and facilitating user training and product rollout.

Qualifications and experience

A University Degree in Development studies, Social Sciences, Computer Science or any other relevant field; Minimum of 3 years’ experience implementing private sector development projects; Knowledge of ICT4D space particularly mobile technology; Software development experience an added advantage; Demonstrated ability of organizing and facilitating community meetings; Ability to work independently while being a strong team player; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Knowledge and appreciation of issues affecting smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe; Some experience with NGOs is desirable.
