The Zambia Weights and Measures Agency (ZWMA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI) established by the Weights and Measures Act no. 12 of 2003. The principle functions of the ZWMA are to protect consumers in relation to pre-packaged commodities, approve the use of all types of weighing and measuring instruments used in trade and verification for accuracy of the measuring instruments at prescribed intervals.

Responsibilities

  • Undertakes effectively the production of various Information and Educational Communication materials in order  to accept acceptance and participation in ZWMA programmes
  • Undertakes efficiently the planning and implementation of pertinent issues in order to raise public awareness
  • Undertakes effectively planning and organizing of Public Relations events, public meetings and conferences in order to facilitate interactions with stakeholders
  • Manages effectively with the media houses in order to facilitate the publication of news items favorable to the agency
  • Undertakes timely routine monitoring of the media and provide feedback mechanisms on matters that concern the agency
  • Undertakes effectively the drafting and issuance of press statements in order to present the  agency on issues
  • Undertakes effectively the protocol services to CEO and other VIPs in order to conform to standard etiquette
  • Undertakes effectively the handling of complaints in order to promote cordial stakeholder relations

Qualifications

  • Full grade 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Bachelor of Mass Communication or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Two years experience
  • Excellent computer skills that are useful in Publications or Presentations
  • Integrity,  confidentiality, honesty, diplomacy
  • Presentation skills, excellent personal organization and interpersonal skills
