Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Procurement Officer.

Location: Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.
Reporting to: Procurement Coordinator
Role Summary
Reporting to the Procurement Coordinator, you will be responsible for efficient delivery of procurement services, through the management of purchasing transactions. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
· Undertake procurement activities to comply with legislation, company policies, procedures and ethical guidelines.
· Assist in the day to day management of suppliers, particularly in the areas of order management, discrepancies resolution and expediting and payment assistance.
· Undertake continuous reviews of all aspects of the procurement operations to ensure opportunities to add value, minimise risk and enhance shareholder value are identified and implemented.
· Assist the Coordinator with reporting, order management and staff management.
· Assist in the provision of regular reports to enable effective management of procurements key performance activities
· Assist with the delivery of cost effective Procurement strategies within LMC.
· Assist to maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness.
· Ensure that the stock outs are minimised and strive to have on time and in full deliveries for all purchases
· Maintain constant and productive liaison with relevant stakeholders and customers
· Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
· Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barrick’s Community Relations Policies.
Experience & Qualifications
· Advanced Diploma/Degree in Purchasing and Materials Management
· Minimum of 5 yrs. Experience in the purchasing of a wide range of engineering parts, tools, and components for multi facility plants preferably in the Process and or Mining environment.
· Extensive understanding of local and international suppliers pertinent the above
· Have an in depth knowledge and understanding of international procurement processes
· Experience in the use of PRONTO or other ERP systems
· Member of CIPS or ZIPS
