PSI Zimbabwe is a registered Trust working hand-in-hand in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) and a network of local implementing partners. PSI/Zimbabwe is a complex platform implementing programs in HIV Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support; Sexual and Reproductive Health; Malaria Prevention and Control, and Child Survival. In addition to male and female condom social marketing, the HIV program includes large scale testing and Counseling, Voluntary Male Circumcision, ART provision and post-test support services – all increasingly integrated with sexual and reproductive health services including family planning and cervical cancer screening. Position: Research & Metrics Manager
Reporting to the Director Research and Metrics, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:-
Essential Functions
- Develop study design sampling strategies, and questionnaires or discussion guides for quantitative and qualitative studies.
- Coordinate research activities between PSI/Z, local research agencies, and/or consultants, and ensure quality control over study design, field implementation, data collection and analysis, data interpretation and timely delivery of research results.
- Coordinate and liaise with key programmers and sales personnel throughout the research process, including during design, implementation and dissemination of results.
- Assist in report writing, presentation of research findings, workshop dissemination and external dissemination of research.
- Maintain close liaison with other departments to increase the use of research for informed decision-making. Priority is given to construction of “dashboard” tables to inform audience segmentation, monitoring of populations, monitoring of services, and program evaluation.
- Using a client-centred approach, understand data users’ needs and provide them with necessary research inputs.
- Assist with production of timely and high quality Social Marketing Research reports.
- Support program effectiveness through introduction of methodological innovations, application of results based management and by promoting the effective dissemination and use of M&E findings, lessons and recommendations.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of the Research Specialist, Research Statistician and Monitoring, Evaluation and Compliance Specialist.
- Coordinate and supervise documentation of research activities on dataverse.
- Assist with conceptualizing and developing of data analysis plans for primary research as well as for routine program data.
- Coordinate as necessary data analysis workshops.
- Ensure ethics approval for all research with human subjects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or higher in Social Sciences, Statistics, Epidemiology/Public Health, or other related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
- Strong organizational and logistical skills and demonstrated ability to coordinate research and document research outputs.
- Experience managing population-based quantitative surveys including sampling, questionnaire design, recruitment of interviewers, interviewer training, pre-testing and modification of questionnaires, fieldwork supervision, data entry, data cleaning and analysis, and report formatting and writing.
- Experience with M&E systems in international organizational settings, including both qualitative. and quantitative methods, logical frameworks and program/project design.
- Experience with qualitative research techniques including focus groups, in-depth interviews, and other ethnographic techniques – including discussion/interview guideline development, focus group moderating, interview techniques, and analysis of qualitative data and write-up of results.
- Experience with computer software for data entry and analysis, specifically STATA.
- Demonstrated management experience.
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment with flexible working hours.
- Experience in marketing research or with private sector agencies an added advantage.
