First Quantum Minerals Ltd. is an established and growing mining and metals company currently operating four mines and developing projects worldwide. Our aim is to become a globally diversified mining and metals company.

We currently produce copper cathode, copper in concentrate, nickel, gold and sulphuric acid.

First Quantum’s current operations are the Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia, the Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine in Mauritania, the Kevitsa nickel-copper-PGE mine in Finland and the Ravensthorpe nickel-cobalt mine in Australia.

When our current projects are in operation, we expect we will be able to triple our annual copper production capacity and be positioned within the world’s 10 largest copper producers.

Sentinel is the first mine to be developed at the Trident project in the North Western Province of Zambia. The project comprises five large-scale mining licences and significant geological potential exists for expansion of operations, including the Enterprise nickel mine announced in December 2012. First Quantum is investing US$1.725-billion at the Sentinel mine and construction remains on time and on budget. Plant commissioning will commence in mid-2014 and copper production is expected reach 280 – 300,000 tonnes per annum.

Key Responsibillities:

• Continuo improving in safety performance throughout the workforce.
• The position will be expected to positively impact and contribute to the performance of the company through individual activity
• Hands and skills on plant maintenance works and the workshop jobs.
• To carry out all rubber, ceramic, sand blasting, splicing and repairs.

Qualifications & Training:

• A minimum of the appropriate certification with experience in rubber, sand blasting, ceramic & belt splicing, repairs in fixed plant & workshop relining environments.
• At list with a working at height certificate
• A certified working in confined space
• A trained and competent ceramic saw cutting machine operator and able to drive.
• Able to pass all health examinations.
• Able to sand blast in tanks and in pipes

Technical experience & Skills:

• Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a maintenance role covering rubber lining, sand blasting & ceramic lining as well as belt splicing.
• At least 3 years in a ceramic lining, sand blasting and rubber lining role.
• Experience in high output workshops with a high aptitude in the rubber lining, sand blasting & ceramic initiatives required of today’s mining industry.
• Experience with both ceramic lining and rubber lining.
• Experience with both ceramic and rubber lining repairs.
• Be able to recognize the cause of damage to ceramic and rubber works found on routine inspections and report correctly.
• Ability to sand blast, ceramic line and rubber line items of different shapes sizes and materials.
• Recognize different ceramics, rubbers and the correct chemicals along with their lining methods.
• Ability to measure and cut tiles for different shape items (square to round transition pieces, cones, pipes sump boxes, impact discharge chutes).
• Ability to inspect and determine correct preparation of all substrates prior to lining
• Be able to bond to different materials (cement, steel, ceramic wear resistance and rubber)
• Hands on skills and experience with large multi skill operations both ceramic & rubber being undertaken simultaneously within tight time restrictions exposure would be an advantage.
• Previous experience with chute and hopper relines in both ceramic & rubber would be well regarded.
• Demonstrable experience with fixed plant maintenance will be an advantage
