The Rural Electrification Authority is a statutory body established pursuant to the enactment of the Rural Electrification Act No. 20 of the Laws of Zambia of 2003. One of the main functions of the Authority is to facilitate availability and access to electricity by all Zambians living in rural areas by extending the national grid and/or through the installation of isolated grids using renewable energy sources such as mini-hydros, solar, wind, and others.

POSITION: PROJECT TECHNICIANS (06)

DURATION: TWO YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT.

Qualifications:

• Must be a holder of Grade 12 Certificate and Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil or any other equivalent and relevant Technical qualification.
• All the disciplines should be skewed towards the electrical field with more than three (3) years relevant and practical experience in rural electrification technologies such as grid extension, hydro and solar mini-grids, biomass, wind etc.
• The applicant must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia and should be below 40 years of age.

Purpose of the Job

To carry assist in planning, design, and supervision of rural electrification projects at Provincial level and act as liaison officer for all REA activities in the Province.

Main Duties and Accountabilities:

1)      1 ) Assist in the design and regular inspection of rural electrification projects at Provincial level;

2)      Support in the coordination of provincial activities so that objectives of REA are achieved;

3)      Assist in compiling progress monthly and other related reports on rural electrification projects;

4)      Support the Regional Engineer on issues related to monitoring and evaluation of projects in the province in order to facilitate decision making for appropriate interventions;

 

5)      Perform any other duties as may be delegated by the Regional Engineer.
