The Rural Electrification Authority is a statutory body established pursuant to the enactment of the Rural Electrification Act No. 20 of the Laws of Zambia in 2003. One of the main functions of the Authority is to facilitate availability and access to electricity by all Zambians living in rural areas by extending the national grid and/or through the installation of isolated grids using renewable energy sources such as mini-hydros, solar, wind and others.

INTERNAL AUDITOR- TECHNICAL (01 POSITION)

CONTRACT PERIOD-THREE YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Title of Position: Internal Auditor- Technical

Department: Internal Audit

Reports to: Chief Internal Auditor

Jobs Reporting: Nil

Location: Head Office

Qualifications:

  • Full Grade Twelve Certificate. Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/ Mechanical/
  • Civil or related discipline. An Accountancy qualification is an added advantage.
  • Full membership of Institute of Internal Auditors is required. Must be less than 40 years with four (4) years’ relevant work experience.

Purpose of the job:

To perform audits on out installations and capital projects by working with internal audit management to develop and implement a comprehensive risk based audit program. This involves managing the completion of various technical and operational audits.

Main Duties and Accountabilities:

  •       Provide guidance on compliance with regulatory and procedural Technical issues, and ensure that there are adequate controls maintained over all aspects of the Technical environment;
  •       0versee the completion of risk-based Technical and operational audits;
  • Evaluating Technical and engineering management practices and procedures for compliance with applicable regulations, organization policy, and energy industry;
  •       identifying and testing the effectiveness of operating procedures and of internal controls embedded in systems;
  •       Preparing audit work papers in accordance with professional standards; Compile the working papers and document properly to substantiate the audit reports;
  •      Provide or assists in providing training, coaching, and guidance to internal audit staff in conducting Technical audits and other Technical audit-related issues;
  •       Plans and executes audits of technology platforms and evaluates technical internal controls and works collaboratively with management to identify actions needed;
  •       Develop and implement audit plans of internal business processes, application systems, general controls, and technical infrastructure in liaison with Chief Internal Auditor;
  •       Assists in conducting inspection and audit of supplied material and contractors supplied materials in compliance with material specifications and technical descriptions;
  •       Conduct Technical Audit in the electrification, switching, transmission, constructions in liaison with Chief With Internal Auditor;
  •    Ensure that employees are adhering to, and following, safely and security guild lines as established by management;
  •    Prepare written audit reports and recommendations to improve the efficiency of its operation.
