Vacancy: Business Line Manager – Rocktools

The role

The Business Line Manager – Rocktools is fully responsible for the representation of the TH. DTH, & Rotary Tools in the sales area. This includes people management, distributor management, sales and profitability of the Product Area as well as ensuring local implementation of global product line focus areas and measurements. The role is also responsible for the technical and application support for the product line(s) in the sales area.

Duties and Responsibilities — Sales Activities

  • Identify opportunities to sell Sandvik total offerings
  • Create and execute customer testing to develop sales opportunities
  • Lead Sales management (sales activities planning and follow up)
  • Conduct competitor analysis (offering, performance, pricing, market share and services) and identify needed actions (connection with PSM)
  • Develop deep understanding of customer business, operations and processes
  • Provide the best view on future demand to the PETE process
  • Manage contract development to contract signature in conjunction with account management
  • Ensure all contract / terms and conditions are in place to enable cash collection in line with Sandvik policy
  • Ensure the parts and components provided matches customer needs (specification and volume)
  • Recruit, retain and develop sales team (TSSR) including succession planning
  • Ensure CRM/ sales Tools is up to date with valid cases
  • Create customer value propositions (that include TCO, EHS, application and technical knowledge) to proactively create opportunities for Sandvik
  • Work as part of account management team to support customer sales opportunities
  • Identify, analyze and drive resolution of customer issues (warranty and non-warranty) with account management
  • Approve non-standard payment terms under its authority

Operations Activities:

  • Recruit, retain and develop parts operations teams including succession planning
  •  Ensure application of Sandvik EHS policy
  • Participate to Pre-DSB calls
  • Receive and distribute SA Supply Plan and Global Supply Plan
  • Review and analyse operating results in relation to cost, budgets and operating policies and make recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement with specific attention to variances.
  • Tools planning: Ensure TSSR develop view on forward demand; Consolidate view of total demand for Sales Area;
  • Tools order management: o Receive and process customer orders including providing order confirmations; Answer order delivery inquiries from customer; Tools order fulfillment management:; Ensure clearance and local delivery either to SA or customer stocking location; Ensure management of tools warehouse; Ensure inventory management and control

Your profile

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Mining) or 10 years’ experience in a Mining, Technical and Sales environment
  • Computer literate with proven Computer skills
  • 10 years’ experience with Sandvik equipment — Took, Consumables and Services (TOCS)
  • 8 years Management experience in the Technical product field
  • Sandvik product knowledge with primary focus on Rock Tools
  • Strong technical background across engineering disciplines
  • Fitness for underground and surface mines (Silicosis Certification)
  • Experience in project and operational management
  • Business acumen and background in business and account management
  • Experience in technical discussions with middle management & business discussions with senior management
  • Successful Value selling experience
  • Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) Membership • Valid driver’s license
