Senior Accountant: CIDRZ

JOB TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT-GRANTS (C6)

Reports to Manager, Grants and Contracts. Demonstrates knowledge and success adhering to LSG Regulations; has excellent accounting knowledge, analytical and supervisory skills.

Main Duties

  • Assist Grants and Contracts Manager to develop tools to ensure compliance to donor regulations. CIDRZ policy and procedures, and efficient and effective management.
  • Provides technical assistance/trainings to build capacity on the basis or systematic and periodic reviews of sub-grantee systems in accordance to recommendations provided by internal audit.
  • Participates in discussions with potential donors regarding CIDRZ financial system polices and provides any documentation/information required by the donors as well as responds to donor queries.
  • Assists programme managers with proposal budget writing and providing budget justification narratives.
  • Provides financial advice to programme managers regarding spending, developing action points, and spend down plans.
  • Leads project closure and coordinates with involved departments to ensure grants are closed in accordance to donor instructions.
  • Ensures deadlines are met on all requests Logged into SAGE X3 finance system; and all monthly/other invoicing and billing deadlines.
  • Generates monthly consolidated budget-to-actual reports: ensures billing/draw down reports are prepared on lime to ensure cash how.
  • Generates various reports in accordance to donor instructions.
  • Communicates to staff regarding new projects that are about to close on a quarterly basis, as well as projects with no cost extensions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree in Accountancy or full ACCA/CIMA
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with private sector. NGO or international organisation budget preparation, cost analysis and financial management
  • Strong knowledge of USG, donor regulations and policies
  • Good written & oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes
