Senior Accountant – Payroll: Bank of Zambia

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – PAYROLL, HO (1 POST)
GRADE: BOZ6
Job Purpose
To plan, control and manage the payroll section in order to ensure an accurate and fair representation of all staff emoluments in the financial statements.
Main Accountabilities
- Controlling and supervising all activities associated with preparations and processing of monthly salaries to enable production of an accurate payroll on the due dates.
- Continuous monitoring and ensuring all statutory and other deductions from payroll (NAPSA and paye) schedules are submitted to respective authorities on time to ensure compliance with legal requirements in the areas of finance and taxations.
- Liaising with Human Resources Department – Manager Benefits, Manager Pensions, Bank Secretariat and Internal and External Auditors on all matters relating to current and former Staff payments and authorized deductions being compliant with Bank of Zambia conditions of service.
- Developing internal controls and accounting systems to assist in the processing of staff payments and deductions so as to create an efficient and effective payroll system to ensure accountability of Bank’s resources.
- Preparing revolving funds on a monthly basis for the Loans Committee by giving out loans as per Bank of Zambia loans policy.
- Preparing terminal benefits for those leaving the Bank through Voluntary Early Separation Scheme, retirements, resignations or death fully accounting for loans and advances at the date of termination of employment.
- Preparing management payroll report for Departmental management Report to enable accurate information dissemination.
- Approving and paying all non- payroll related payments to staff through T24 and RTGS, such as Travel allowances etc.
- Approving and processing all payments outside the Payroll Run on the HRMS system such as Salary Advances, Leave Travel and Leave Days commutation.
Qualifications and Experience
- MSc/MA/MBA in Accountancy; Finance; Business Administration plus ACCA/CIMA/ACA/ZICA or equivalent with five (5) years’ relevant experience.
- Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Levels (Credit or better).

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Bank of Zambia Conditions of Service will apply. Please note that the positions are on Fixed Term Contracts of Employment for three (3) years and renewable subject to good performance.
