Position: Senior Network Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a fast-growing exciting telecommunications Company who will ensure that the performance and availability of core network infrastructure is maintained to the highest standard with maximum levels of productivity and efficiency.

The role will include responsibility for installation, implementation, administration and maintenance of core network infrastructure.

The role includes:

Troubleshoot high-level problems

  • Provide high level support for core network and related problems
  • Analyse problems, research solutions, implement, test and manage solutions
  • Work in close collaboration with networks, systems teams and other divisions
  • Communicate technical solutions and implementation processes
  • Document hardware and software problems and resolutions

Install network components and solutions

  • Identify and interpret Business requirements in relation to the data presented and current core network configuration
  • Core network design and architecture to meet business requirements
  • Plan, install, configure and test network/system hardware, peripherals, operating and application software and software upgrades
  • Document network and system installation, configuration procedures and current configuration

Operational improvements

Monitor and analyze network performance
Optimize strategic and operational implementations
Develop and implement preventative maintenance measurement, tools and systems

Skills and competencies

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and methods of strategic planning with knowledge in information engineering and the principles of planning, analysis, design, generation and implementation of network and solution design
  • Working experience with Network management systems, including Cisco and Juniper hardware
  • Experience with the various internet access technologies

Ability to:

  • Plan, design, and maintain core and access networks and solutions
  • Provide technical support internally and to customers as required
  • Plan, analyse, design, generate code, test, implement simple to complex software application solutions as needed to design and maintain the networks and solutions
  • Communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical terms to customers and other staff
  • Read, interpret and apply technical data processing manuals and related documents

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant 3 year diploma / National Certificate
  • 5 years ICT experience and exposure to networking technologies, operating system, applications and IT infrastructure, routing and switching in a service provider environment

Special requirements:

  • (CCIE) Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert Certification on: Voice, or Security or Routing and Switching
  • (CCDP) Cisco Certified Design Professional Certification; or
  • (CCNP) Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification and
