The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) was set up by the Medicines and Allied Substances Act (No. 3) of 2013 as a statutory body responsible for drug regulation in Zambia.
The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian citizens to fill the following vacant positions at the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority Secretariat:
SENIOR PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (1)
JOB PURPOSE
To carry out Public Relations and Communications functions in order to promote the Authority’s visibility, good corporate image, and reputation to both its internal and external stakeholders through mass communication.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Full-Form V/Grade 12 School Certificate including English and Mathematics;
- Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent;
- Membership to the relevant body;
- 5 years post qualification experience in a similar work environment;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Fluency in English and local languages understood by stakeholders;
- Team player;
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimum supervision to meet demanding media deadlines;
- Has exposure to use of social media platforms and
- Proficiency in computer skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaises with the media regularly and systematically to ensure a close working relationship and a better understanding of ZAMRA’s roles by the media;
- Gathers news and other materials from all departments and regulated undertakings for inclusion in the ZAMRA magazine/newsletter upon approval by superior;
- Co-ordinates and arranges public awareness programmes such as briefings, press conferences, and outreach programmes;
- Disseminates ZAMRA decisions and other relevant information on the operation of the institution to stakeholders using various communication channels e. g. electronic and print media;
- Drafts responses to media queries promptly in line with the media policy;
- Engages stakeholders by organizing public awareness events;
- Monitors and analyses media coverage on the ZAMRA and pharmaceutical sector in general on a daily basis and drafts appropriate responses where necessary;
- Manages information content for the ZAMRA website;
- Ensuring timely preparation and distribution of the Annual Reports / Newsletters to various stakeholders;
- Arranging interviews with the media, individuals and other organizations, including attending to courtesy calls made to the Authority;
- Coordinating workshops, meetings, ceremonies and any other events for publicity and information purposes ;
- Distributing Corporate wear, calendars, and diaries;
- Preparing and updating the corporate database in respect of all Authority stakeholders;
- Provides protocol services to ZAMRA VIPs as and when required;
- Undertakes any other duties as assigned by superior and
- Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Supervisor which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
